Report a Streetlight Out

We do not know if a streetlight is out unless customers report them. If you see a problem with a streetlight in your area, please report it by calling 888-DIAL-PNM (1-888-342-5766), chat live with a customer service representative here on the PNM website, or use the online form below. Please try to be as detailed as possible about the location of the light you wish to report.

PNM owns approximately 43,000 streetlights and maintains approximately 50,000 streetlights throughout the state of New Mexico. Some of the streetlights in our service area are owned by PNM, and others are owned by other entities like the city or county they reside in, and PNM does not perform maintenance on every streetlight.

Streetlight outages can occur for a number of different reasons, including copper theft, vandalism, and vehicles hitting light poles. When a streetlight is reported out, PNM crews work hard to locate, troubleshoot, and repair as soon as possible. Each case requires different actions on our part, and may require different actions, materials or permissions in order for PNM to access and repair the light. Depending on the streetlight, some may take longer than others for repair.

PNM and the City of Albuquerque recently launched a project to convert all PNM-owned streetlights in Albuquerque to LED. Learn more about the project.

PNM and the City of Las Vegas recently launched a project to convert all PNM-owned streetlights in Las Vegas to LED. Learn more about the project here.

PLEASE NOTE: Private lights are not listed on the Streetlight Outage Tool, as it is only a tool to report streetlight outages. If you do not see the streetlight you would like to report an outage for, it is likely a private light. To report a private light outage, please contact our customer experience team at 888-DIAL-PNM (1-888-342-5766), or chat live with a Customer Experience Advisor at PNM.com. We will take the outage report and suspend your private light billing until repairs are completed.

Why is my private light still out?

I understand your need to fix the light on your property. I have verified there is an open order to get your light fixed. We are working diligently on our planning to get all private lights fixed now that we have the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission's approval to replace the bulbs with LED's. We will get your light fixed as soon as possible.

Why can't you fix my private light?

We intend to fix your light as soon as we are able. We have been unable to locate the parts needed to fix outdated outdoor lights. Now that we have New Mexico Public Regulation Commission approval, we plan to replace the outdated light with a new, energy efficient LED light. While we have received New Mexico Public Regulation Commission approval, we are still in the initial planning phase before we can begin the process of replacing your light.

What are you doing to fix my private light?

We had to ask the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission for approval to replace outdated lights with new, energy efficient LED alternatives. Now that they have approved this request, we can begin planning for the updating of the light with a modern LED light and/or fixture. Our plan is to begin replacing the outdated fixtures and bulbs that are no longer working. We will fix all the lights as soon as possible.

When will you be able to fix my private light?

I submitted an order to fix your light/there is an existing order to get your light fixed. We will replace your light as soon as we are able. We do not have a timeline right now, but we are hopeful it will be soon.

Why is it taking so long?

PNM is required to get approval from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission to replace the outdated lighting with a new energy efficient LED light because they were not originally approved lighting options. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this delay. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. We are happy to report that we now have approval to fix these lights and we are working diligently on our plan to get them all back on as soon as possible.

Isn't there another way to just get it fixed?

We are working on our plan to replace the outdated lights in a cost-efficient manner. Please know we are working to get your light fixed as quickly as possible. I understand your concern. Thank you for your patience as we work through the process. We value you as a customer and we will do our best to get your light back on as quickly as possible.

Will the new lighting meet the night sky and lighting ordinances of municipalities?

Yes, the lighting must comply with local ordinances.

If my light was removed, will it be replaced with the new program?

No. The previously approved tariff allowed PNM to discontinue service and remove company-owned equipment under this closed rate where PNM determined that non-functioning lighting could not be replaced at that time.

If I do not currently have a private light on my property, can I get one installed?

No. The private light program is closed to new customers.

Will I be charged for my replacement light?

No, you will not be charged for the replacement of the light.

Once my light is fixed will I receive a monthly bill and how much will it be?

Once your private light is replaced you will be billed the same monthly amount for the service as you were before it burned out, however rates are subject to change based on approval from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.

Will the new LED light have a higher/ lower monthly cost?

Once your private light is replaced you will be billed the same monthly amount for the service as you were before it burned out. However, rates are subject to change based on approval from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.

Will you reimburse me for the period of time my light was out?

We'll reimburse you from the time you reported it to us forward.
